The Service

We’re blessed to meet each Sunday at 4pm in the log cabin at Tropical Sands Christian Church. For us, the staples of AA’s program are Jesus’ wisdom, power and gospel put into practice. Our meetings are kid-friendly and open to men and women. We begin the meeting with a brief welcome and introduction, then we pray and worship God with singing. After a few announcements, we will have a couple of readings, one from the Big Book and one from the Good Book, followed by either introducing our speaker, or, more often, a time of open share, where folks are encouraged to share their own experience, strength and hope, preferably related to our readings. What is said at the open share meeting stays at the meeting. Kids are welcome to participate in all parts of the meeting, but kids are also welcome to have supervised play on the playground or basketball hoop. The last Sunday of every month is Anniversary Night! It is a time in which we forgo our normal meeting format to celebrate lengths of sobriety by eating together and handing out crosses as a tangible reminder of what Jesus has done for us.
