My name is Avril and I am a follower of Jesus Christ. I am married to Trevor for 37 years, having started our young married life serving God together as a couple. We have served in numerous leadership roles within church and have been in ministry for the past decade. I came into recovery 5 years ago through Celebrate Recovery, a 12-step Christ-centred recovery programme. Having completed a number of step studies, I have had to admit to a number of character defects, like Family dysfunction, People pleasing, Control, Procrastination, that was hampering my spiritual growth and relationship with others, mainly my family. I am currently on a journey with my 30-year-old son and am leaning heavily on my Forever Family and recovery community for support and strength from our Heavenly Father to help me on this journey. My husband and I have started and led a number of Celebrate Recoveries in our local community, and we now lead Recovery Church in Cape Town, a first in South Africa.

My name is Trevor and from the age of 14 years old, I became a follower of Jesus Christ. I am married to Avril whom I met at high school and we are married for 37 years and doing ministry together. I have served in numerous leadership roles within church including biker, music and men’s ministry and later being part of Recovery ministries. I came into recovery 5 years ago, in the midst of the pandemic and through Celebrate Recovery and a number of step studies, I had to work through my struggles with Anxiety, Depression, Co-dependency and Family Dysfunction. My wife and I have started and led a number of Celebrate Recoveries in our local community and I am walking a journey as a sponsor with a number of men who are on their journey to recovery. As a couple, along with strong leaders, my wife and I now lead Recovery Church in Cape Town, a first in South Africa and feel honoured to carry this very important role.
