SERVICE

The Service

Recovery Church Hilton Head Island meets on Sundays. We begin at 4:00PM with a step study for those working their steps for the first time. At 5:30PM, we meet for community dinner and fellowship. At 6:00PM, we begin with worship, then a sermon, teaching, or testimony. We celebrate various lengths of sobriety weekly. At 6:50PM, we break into small group discussions (Men with Men, and Women with Women) for sharing what is on our hearts.

THE LEADERSHIP TEAM

(All leaders are listed alphabetically by first name)

David Bragg

Servant Leader

David gratefully assists others through our new Recovery Church on Hilton Head Island with a desire for others to live in similar peace. Through four decades in the community and a long journey to recovery, he finds the mission uplifting to bring his story of redemption to others. Since the last drink and suicidal thoughts left behind in Florence, Italy, in June 2011, through Christ’s redemption, he seeks to save the lost. With life significantly enriched through his marriage to Renee, who also serves RC, their distinct paths complement each other in ways that equip them to serve, support and mentor couples through similar struggles.

Deb Copeland

Campus Lead

At fifty (18 years ago), I retired from my career to work for God. I have attended seminary, received my master’s in biblical counseling, and will soon complete my Doctor of Theology. Working as a pastor, counselor, and lover of souls has brought me to a place of healing and forgiveness. I love watching God work in the lives of others. I have learned to trust God with my family, and I know His plans are His, and I only get to participate prayerfully, not play God. A few years ago, I met Pastor Phil. We immediately became the closest of friends, and I fell in love with Recovery Church. I felt “I had come home.” I met many of you and realized you are family! You are my brothers and sisters in Christ, and we are all walking the journey of healing and recovery together. There is no place I’d rather be in communion with all of you.

Don Lucci

Servant Leader

It was not until my kids began to fight their addictions and travel their journeys that I recognized my fear of their becoming something other than what I wanted for them, and the fact that they would succumb to their addictions was more than I could handle. I had carried this fear my entire parental life. Life began to be unmanageable from a place in my heart I couldn’t face.

I believe God placed me in Recovery Church and Celebrate Recovery for my personal growth, not just for the ones I was there supporting. My deliverance from a lifelong codependency and belief that I could control the outcomes of my children's lives were a part of me I didn’t understand. Having kids helps parents to grow up.

Renee Bragg

Servant Leader

Renee has a unique perspective on recovery. Through more hurts than habits, her vantage point is heart-driven to help others dig deeply into their past hurts to uncover the roots of current trauma. Focusing on a Christ-centered marriage has been her cornerstone of contentment. Patiently listening to and caringly counseling other women is her growing passion. Together with her husband David and their love for Christ, they strengthen the wind under the wings of those grounded in darkness.
