SERVICE
The Service
Showing people Jesus by the way we love one another
Recovery Church on the River - Cape Girardeau meets every Wednesday from 6-8pm. We begin the service with food and worship, followed by a Bible study or lesson. We then end the service with "open share" time, to allow people to process what is on their heart in a group setting. We encourage people to hang around after the service to meet others and discuss sponsorship. The last Wednesday of every month is our Anniversary night. This is a time in which we celebrate length of recovery, hand out crosses and share testimonies of the tangible ways in which God, through Jesus, has changed our lives.

THE LEADERSHIP TEAM
(All leaders are listed alphabetically by first name)

Courtney Trankle
Campus Lead
Courtney Trankle considers it a true miracle that she is not only alive, but able to serve in the Recovery Church on the River- Cape Girardeau. After a 25-year struggle with drugs and alcohol that resulted in a lengthy prison sentence, Courtney is walking in freedom today after she met Jesus Christ in a jail cell. Courtney Trankle works at a substance use treatment center as a substance use counselor and considers it her mission field to help others still struggling with addiction. She attends and is on staff at La Croix Church in Cape Girardeau, MO. Courtney is passionate about showing others the redemptive power of Jesus and considers it a privilege to walk alongside others in bondage, until they too can experience freedom. She works with a sponsor and sponsors other women. She has 2 children, Hannah, age 28, and Nick, age 19. "Shame dies when secrets are told in safe spaces".

Luke McCllelan
Servant Leader
Luke McClellan is a carpenter from Southeast Missouri and has been sober for 7 years because of a direct relationship with Jesus. The closer he gets to Christ, the further he gets from the meth addict he used to be. His gentle and meek spirit is a huge asset that Recovery Church on the River- Cape Girardeau can depend on. His love of scripture and spiritual practices enable him to walk out his faith in tangible ways. His discipleship was a call to action by Jesus and the way he loves others well is a true testament to that calling on his life. He sees the 12 steps as a practical and real way to have a pure and simple devotion to Christ. He has one son, Caleb, 11 years old, who is the light of his life. "There is no moving forward without taking steps".

Nancy Monahan
Servant Leader
Nancy Monahan is part of the team, through which God planted Recovery Church on the River- Cape Girardeau. She is honored to have this privilege. Nancy began her recovery journey in 2011, as part of a Celebrate Recovery step study. She was struggling with depression and came to understand that it was the result of unresolved trauma in her past; this resulted in unforgiveness. This led to finding freedom in forgiveness and joy in service. God continues to help her find healing and wholeness through the 12 steps. Nancy has been married 44 years and is the proud mother of 8 children and 12 grandchildren. "Working the steps of AA with my sponsor results in letting God into every area of my life, so that I can have sobriety in all things".
