SERVICE
The Service
Recovery Church Providence RI gathers every Saturday night at 6:00pm at Oasis of Grace, 464 Silver Spring St. Providence. RI.
We open our service with praise and worship, community announcements and surrender crosses. We then welcome our speaker, followed by a time of open share, where attendees have a chance to share what is on their hearts.
Service closes with prayer and worship. On the last Saturday of the month, we have anniversary night, where we take the time to celebrate lengths of recovery; We do this by handing out crosses as a tangible reminder of the changes God is making in our lives!
We encourage all to stick around after service for refreshments and fellowship.

THE LEADERSHIP TEAM
(All leaders are listed alphabetically by first name)
Chelsea
Servant Leader
Chelsea is passionate about all things recovery and wellness. She has dedicated herself to serving in Recovery Church Providence in a leadership role and assisting others in finding the spiritual freedom she has experienced through her walk with Jesus.
Danielle Bruce
Servant Leader
Danielle grew up in a chaotic, abusive, and broken home just south of Boston. Performing in community theater taught her to mask fear and inadequacy with a facade of confidence. A high achiever with a college education, she pursued business success and material possessions, believing they were the keys to happiness. Her high-paying career in legislative affairs in DC brought status, but nearly 30 years of alcohol and drug abuse unraveled it all—costing her career, health, and freedom, leading to arrests, jail time, and end-stage liver disease.
Consumed by failure and humiliation, Danielle hit rock bottom, physically and spiritually bankrupt. On the brink of death, she opened an old Bible and read:“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid… for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deut. 31:6). This moment led her to her first AA meeting, where she found hope, love, and the realization she wasn’t alone. Praying daily to Jesus, she experienced a miraculous recovery and later told her doctor, “I got God and AA!”
Free from addiction since July 2018, Danielle’s true self and purpose emerged through faith in Jesus and Alcoholics Anonymous. Now sober, she is energetic, happy, and dedicated to helping others. Active in Bible studies and committed to giving back, she felt called to serve when a new RCM church was planted near her home in Rhode Island—a sign of divine Providence she deeply cherishes.
Gina Russo Barbosa
Pastor
Growing up in church, and being the daughter of a Minister, did not exempt Gina from the wilds of addiction and domestic violence.
Her journey with addiction began 20 years ago after she found herself in an abusive relationship. Her abuser introduced her to cocaine. What followed was desperation, hopelessness and a desire to end her life. A daily persuit of drugs, prison, attempted suicide and near fatal attacks were her new normal.
In 2011 Pastor Gina founded Broken Chains Ministries outreach to reach those who suffer from the same afflictions as she. She has traveled the country doing outreaches and speaking engagements reaching people in some of the most drug infested areas of the country.
Today Gina is 13 years saved, healed and delivered from all the chains that bound her and is the Pastor of her parent’s legacy and church, Oasis of Grace. Gina continues to travel and share the gospel of Salvation through Jesus.
Normajean Benevides Shovelton
Campus Lead
Normajean has been in recovery for over 20 years. She developed a transitional curriculum and opened two recovery houses in 2012 in the Providence area helping addicts and alcoholics integrate successfully back into society.
Normajean has worked in many levels of treatment over the years, from outreach to counseling and addiction recovery advocacy in the community. Normajean has a passion for helping those who are struggling in the darkness and isolation of active addiction and alcoholism. Having been saved and born again in 2014, her walk with The Lord is the driving force in her life wanting to share the freedom she has been given with others.
She is an active member of her church and believes in the importance of surrender and service. So many are broken and just need to know they matter. “Kindness goes a long way”
