SERVICE
The Service
We meet before service from 5:30-6PM and have coffee and snacks. This is our time of fellowship (the meeting before the meeting) where we can share a laugh and meet the newcomers. We begin the service at 6PM with our preamble followed by contemporary worship music. We pray the Serenity prayer (long form) then we do announcements. That is followed by a sermon or testimony. We usually end with an opportunity to make a decision for Christ (always preach the cross). The last Tuesday of every month is Anniversary Night. It is a time in which we celebrate lengths of sobriety by handing out crosses as a tangible reminder (crosses) of the changes we have made in our lives.

THE LEADERSHIP TEAM
(All leaders are listed alphabetically by first name)

Hugh R. Sargent
Campus Lead
I found salvation trough faith in Christ Jesus, whom I found through the Church as a teenager. I found my sobriety in the rooms of AA and by working the 12-steps. As a Christian who practices a program of recovery, the mission of The Recovery Movement: “Equipping God’s people to do God’s work of Recovery,” really resonates with me. Our vision in planting a Recovery Church in Sacramento, is to be a bridge from the rooms of recovery to the Church, and from the Church to the rooms in recovery. My family and I attend the Sacramento Vineyard.

Joedy Zapara
Servant Leader
I come from a family of faith and choose to follow Jesus in my elementary years. My wife and I planted the Sacramento Vineyard Church and our heart is that people can find purpose and grow in maturity through a relationship with Jesus Christ. I’m passionate about Recovery Church because I see the need in Sacramento for a Jesus centered worship service that focuses on sobriety, healing, and Christian community. I may be a normie, but I know my need for Jesus because I know I’m a broken person on the road to healing. I want to join others in their journey of healing and life in Jesus.
