The Service
Recovery Group at Discovery Church meets on Sand Lake Rd. We sing songs, prayer, and recognize lengths of freedom from active addition. Our emphasis is to teach the biblical foundations of the 12-steps in a support fellowship that helps those struggling with drug and alcohol abuse to find freedom in Christ.

Phil Hissom
Group Lead
Phil is the missions pastor at the church and has a heart for recovery ministry. Through our Community Resource Center and in his work in struggling communities over the past two decades, he's seen the devastation that substance abuse brings. Equally important is his own recovery journey which began in 1990. He desired to reconnect with Jesus during the early days of his recovery but wasn't willing to go to a church service and believes that he would have attended something like Recovery Church which would have helped tremendously. Phil has been with his wife for 31 years and has adult children and grandchildren.
Recovery Group at Discovery Church is part of the Association of Recovery Churches.
